Why do we still shop in stores?

As more people use the internet for paying bills, homework, and shopping, some may wonder why people still shop in stores. This, coupled with the popularity of mobile apps most items can now be purchased with a click of a button.

The convenience of online shopping may appeal to many, but there are still good reasons why people opt to shop in-stores.

1. Touch and Feel. Many would rather touch the item they are buying. Looking at a product in person allows you to tell the quality of the product right away.

2. Open item discounts. Retailers would further reduce the price of a returned open-item. This type of item cannot be found online. However, overstock items can easily be sold online.

3. Shopping is a social event. shopping can be a social event especially for women and families. Going out for a few hours to shop is a great way to spend time with girlfriends. In addition, families can shop together and squeeze in some family time with the kids.

4. No shipping fees. There are still many online stores who charge shipping fees. A product online may be listed at a cheaper price, but end up costing the same or more once shipping cost is added.

One thing to keep in mind is that more online stores do offer free shipping promotions like free shipping on orders $50 over. There are also times that shipping is free depending on the online store you are buying from.

This article does not suggest that shopping in-store is better than online shopping. Both have their own pros and cons and it is up to the consumer to decide which one works best for them.

January deals and bargains

January is typically "Winter clearance" month for most retailers. This is especially true for apparel and accessories. This is a great time to find bargains on winter clothing such as jackets, boots, gloves or gifts for next Christmas. As long as it is not a perishable item, it should do well as a gift for the next Christmas season.

Deals could range from 50 to 80% off. Store flyers will typically advertise these bargain prices. So keep your eye out for those annoying flyers that pile up on your doorstep. To snag the best bargains check flyers and shop early. If you are dying to get a new winter jacket, don't wait. Get it as soon as you see the end of season sale flyers. Retailers will not restock their winter inventory at this time, so once an item is gone it is gone.

Wanting to change your Christmas decor for next season? This is the time to get a great bargain on decor. Retailers will try to sell off their inventory of seasonal products to get their shelves ready for Spring items. These items range from Christmas ornaments to lighting. Taking advantage of the clearance items will help with your Christmas decor needs for next season.

So, mark it in your calendar to help you keep an eye out for these great deals once the holidays have ended.
